Hogmanay ticket warning
Hogmanay fireworks in Edinburgh
A fireworks display will mark the new year
Revellers hoping to attend Edinburgh's Hogmanay party are being urged not to pay over-inflated prices for tickets on the internet.

It is expected that 100,000 party-goers will take part in the annual Princes Street celebrations.

Tickets for the event have been offered for sale on the internet for £40.

However, organisers are urging people to join the First Foot Club which guarantees a pass and other benefits for £15.

Erasure are the headline act for the city's Hogmanay celebrations, supported by The Coral and a host of DJs and traditional artists.

Street party

Those gathered in Princes Street for the event will be encouraged to join hands at three minutes past midnight to sing Auld Lang Syne.

Everyone will receive a bottle of water with the words of the song printed on the label.

A fireworks display will bring in the new year as the event celebrates its 11th year.

Some 350 police officers and 450 stewards will be on duty for the street party.
