Biomedical research will be brought to the marketplace

Three Scottish universities are launching a multi-million pound fund to help bridge the gap between biomedical research and the growing commercial market.
The fund will be used to provide support at the riskiest stage of bringing an idea to the marketplace.
The universities of Dundee, St Andrews and Aberdeen have joined forces to set up the North East of Scotland Technology Fund - or NESTech.
It is an attempt to ensure that research work makes the sometimes difficult transition into the commercial sphere.
Challenge funding
Initially £3m is being made available for projects that will either develop spin-out companies from the universities or create technologies or products that can be licensed.
The fund was created from a successful bid to
the Office of Science and Technology University Challenge Fund.
