In pictures: Flash floods hit Inverness
Torrential rain has led to flash flooding in the Highland city of Inverness.
Roads were closed and train services were disrupted after the downpour left parts of the city under water on Sunday. Our pictures show the scale of the flooding which prompted police to urge drivers not to approach the city.
The conditions posed problems for local residents
Water levels rose in several parts of the city
Motorists were urged not to travel by police
Rescuers helped 13 staff and guests escape a hotel
Dinghies were commandeered to rescue guests
A number of roads were closed or badly affected
Police said some drivers were ignoring warning signs
Many cars struggled through the difficult conditions
Some roads have been blocked by landslides
The heavy rain affected areas around the Highland city
