Chemical attack on shopkeeper
Police car's blue light
The robbers made off with a four-figure sum
A shopkeeper has been treated for burns to his face and eyes after thieves threw a corrosive liquid over him.

The 44-year-old was walking on Dickson Street in the Gorbals area of Glasgow at just before 1100 GMT when he was attacked from behind by two men.

The men pushed him to the ground, threw a corrosive liquid in his face and stole a bag containing a four figure sum of money.

Strathclyde Police appealed for witnesses to the robbery.

Treated for burns

The two suspects are believed to have run a short distance and entered a car parked nearby.

The vehicle was thought to have been driven off towards Langside Avenue in the city.

He was taken to The Victoria Infirmary where he was treated for burns to his face and eyes.

Police said he was badly shaken by the ordeal but not blinded, and later discharged after treatment.
