He was struck by a ScotRail passenger train near Brown Street in Paisley at about 1715 GMT on Saturday.

The 51 passengers had to remain on board the Glasgow and Ardrossan service until the police arrived to inspect the scene.

Seven trains were cancelled as a result of the incident and 36 services experienced delays.

British Transport Police are also investigating the death of the man in his mid-20s, who was hit by a train at about 2140.

ScotRail's Aberdeen to Glasgow service had been preparing to enter the Queen Street tunnel near Fountainwell Place, Glasgow, when it struck the man.

The accidents come after a middle-aged man was killed in a train accident at Baillieston railway station in Glasgow on Wednesday.
