Police probe two rail deaths
The teenager was struck by a ScotRail train
Transport police are investigating the deaths of two people on Scotland's railways in one day.
A 14-year-old boy was killed after he was struck by a train in Renfrewshire on Saturday evening. British Transport Police are also looking into the death of a man in his mid-20s who was hit by a train in Glasgow less than five hours later. The teenage boy has not yet been named by police.
The 51 passengers had to remain on board the Glasgow and Ardrossan service until the police arrived to inspect the scene. Seven trains were cancelled as a result of the incident and 36 services experienced delays. British Transport Police are also investigating the death of the man in his mid-20s, who was hit by a train at about 2140. ScotRail's Aberdeen to Glasgow service had been preparing to enter the Queen Street tunnel near Fountainwell Place, Glasgow, when it struck the man. The accidents come after a middle-aged man was killed in a train accident at Baillieston railway station in Glasgow on Wednesday. |
