The boy suffered severe injuries to his left leg
A seven-year-old boy has suffered serious injuries after falling into a bonfire.

The child, whose name has not been released, suffered severe injuries to his left leg in the incident in Gateside Road, St Ninians, Stirling on Sunday.

Firefighters, ambulance crew and oplice were called to the scene at about 1530 GMT and the boy was taken to Stirling Royal Infirmary for treatment.

He was later transferred to the Royal Hospital for Sick Children in Yorkhill, Glasgow, where he was undergoing further treatment.

A police spokesman said: "Central Scotland Police would wish to highlight the dangers which unsupervised bonfires present to young children."

The spokesman said all bonfire and firework events planned for Guy Fawkes night on Monday should be overseen by "appropriate adults".
