Millions lined up in Asia, the US and Mexico on Tuesday to watch a spectacular partial eclipse of the sun.
Japanese amateur astronomers were up at dawn eagerly awaiting the eclipse time
In Taiwan everyone turned out to view the phenomenon
Their patience paid off as they were treated to a spectacular sight
In Shanghai viewers were clearly astonished by what they saw
A Mexican child resorted to a rather unconventional means to protect his eyes
In Texas the sky glowed a deep red
