Damilola film makes shortlist
Damilola Taylor
The Panorama special on the killing of Damilola Taylor has been nominated in the 2003 Race in the Media Awards.

The programme, which was broadcast in April 2002, has been short listed in the factual television category.

The award. sponsored by the Commission for Racial Equality, will be given out in April.

In "Damilola", Fergal Keane examined the events that led to Damilola's tragic death and the subsequent police investigation.

He also travelled to Nigeria to meet Damilola's relatives and focused on the activities of a local gang of children who inflicted a reign of terror on the estate.

The programme also spoke to police officers and asked why the authorities were unable to tackle the problems before Damilola's death.
