A huge demonstration by students and lecturers against plans to treble tuition fees and cut university funding in England descended into violence when a group of protesters smashed their way into the headquarters of the Conservative party in Millbank Tower in Westminster.

Newsnight's Jeremy Paxman is joined by president of the National Union of Students, Aaron Porter, Clare Solomon, who was in the building demonstrating, and the Deputy Leader of the Liberal Democrats, Simon Hughes, to discuss the violence.
