- It was Harold Macmillan who lived at Birch Grove in East Sussex. The mansion was built in 1926 for Maurice and Helen, Harold's parents, and was home to the family for some 60 years.
- It was Liam Fox, whose Bermondsey home was raided in April while he was asleep. The burglars escaped with his laptop, a mobile phone and his car, and had taken knives out of his kitchen drawers in case he confronted them.
- It is Old Etonian William Waldegrave who was chosen in 2008 to suceed Sir Eric Anderson as the Provost of the elite boys' boarding school. The Provost is the chairman of the governing body of the college.
- It was Anthony Eden's wife, Clarissa. Born the Countess of Avon and a niece of Winston Churchill and granddaughter of the Duke of Abingdon, she collaborated with Melvyn Bragg's wife Cate Haste on the 2007 book.
- It was John Peyton who came in last with just 11 votes. Margaret Thatcher came first with 146 votes and is to date the only woman to be elected leader of a major political party in the UK.
- The Minister of State for Policy wrote 'Privatising the World: A Study of International Privatisation in Theory and Practice'.
- It is Secretary of State for Culture, Olympics, Media and Sport, Jeremy Hunt. In 2004 he established a foundation to help Aids-affected orphans by building schools and providing money to fund education, books and uniforms.
