Brasilia - utopia or concrete carbuncle?

Brazil's capital Brasilia is getting a makeover ahead of the World Cup in 2014. Rajan Datar takes a helicopter ride above the city which took just three years to build in the 1960s and has the distinctive signature of architect Oscar Niemeyer throughout.

The city was built to unite the undeveloped north with the rest of the country. Opinion remains divided about the city to this day - is it a monument to technocracy or a ghastly concrete carbuncle?
