The Chancellor of the Exchequer, Gordon Brown, told Sir David about his plans to devote a significantly higher proportion of national income to the Health Service. He also spoke about his political relationship with the Prime Minister, Tony Blair.

The Conservative Leader, Iain Duncan Smith, told Breakfast with Frost that the "stalinist" Health Service desparately needs reform. He begins a trip to Sweden to investigate alternative systems of funding on Monday.

Nato Secretary General, George Robertson, spoke to Sir David from Glasgow. He spoke about Nato's relationship with Russia and how it can be enhanced in the years ahead.

Israeli Cabinet Minister, Danny Naveh, gave his reaction to Saturday night's suicide bomb attacks in Jerusalem.
