A lifeboat from Clogherhead carried out the rescue
Three fishermen from a boat registered at Kilkeel in County Down have been rescued off the coast of County Louth in the Republic of Ireland.

The men's boat was in collision with another vessel and sank on Friday morning.

The alarm was raised shortly before 0100 BST and a lifeboat from the Clogherhead station near Drogheda carried out the rescue.

The other vessel was damaged in the incident.

The boat, with five people on board, was able to return to its home port of Kilkeel in County Down.
