Up to 50 extra staff are to be recruited by British Airways for its call centre in Belfast.
The move, announced on Tuesday, follows a major restructuring by the company.
It said the decision followed the growing number of people who book tickets via the internet, and a drop in telephone sales.
Call centres in London and Glasgow are to close with the loss of 400 jobs.
The work will be transferred to offices in Manchester and Newcastle as well as Belfast.
