'Stranded' travellers arrive back in NI
Passengers stranded at Stansted
Cancelled flights led to chaos at Stansted Airport
Passengers bound for Belfast who were stranded at airports in London due to the adverse weather conditions have arrived back in Northern Ireland.

Some flights had been delayed since Wednesday after heavy snowfalls paralysed travel across southern and eastern England.

The airline easyjet has apologised for the inconvenience.

Passengers eventually touching down at Belfast International Airport on Saturday complained of a lack of information and poor conditions.

NI passengers were forced to sleep at Stansted airport

Lesley Newbury from Bangor spent over two days at the airport with her 17-year-old daughter waiting for a flight home.

"The biggest problem we have had is a total lack of information and wrong information," she said.

"There have been different sets of information from easyjet staff and different sets of information from the airport staff. At one stage on Saturday, up to 150 were waiting for a backlog of flights to be cleared.

People inside Stansted airport had to sleep on cardboard boxes handed out by shops on Friday night.

The airport reopened on Friday afternoon, but was the subject of delays and a major flight backlog.

Flights from Luton, Glasgow and Heathrow were also affected.

Passengers were unable to leave Stansted because roads were closed and the rail network's paralysed.
