A family-run travel company in County Antrim have said their future has been jeopardised by vandals who caused thousands of pounds of damage to one of their vehicles.

The coach, which is owned by McMillan Transport of Ballymoney, was badly damaged after an underage disco near Toomebridge on Sunday night.

Owners John and Angela McMillan said trouble flared when they went to collect a group of young people from Ballymena who had been attending the disco.

Mrs McMillan said a brick was thrown through the back window of the 53-seater coach during a fracas.

The driver drove to the police station in Toomebridge where officers spoke to some of the passengers.

School damaged

However, Mrs McMillan said it was only when the bus arrived back at base that they realised the full extent of the damage.

Meanwhile, vandals also struck in Londonderry.

Twenty-three windows were broken at a school in the city with an estimated repair bill of £2,000.

It is thought the windows at St Patrick's Primary School in Shantallow were smashed by two youths about tea time on Sunday.

The police have described the incident as "sheer wanton destruction".
