An exhibition of iconic images of the Beatles borrowed from the National Portrait Gallery - like this photo taken by Robert Whitaker in 1965 - is being displayed at Bodelwyddan Castle, in Denbighshire.

The exhibition charts both the changing image and personality of the band, and its individual members, like this Harry Goodwin photograph of Paul McCartney taken during a Top of the Pops appearance in 1965.

Some of the images are well-known, but others have been rarely seen - like this cover of the 1966 album Yesterday and Today, taken by Robert Whitaker, which was quickly withdrawn and replaced ('Butchers' album cover 1966 © Robert Whitaker)
Using photos such as this Michael Ward picture of the band from 1963 as inspiration, visitors will be able to take part in a number of hands-on workshops, creating psychedelic prints and designing their own T-shirts
