In pictures: Veterans' infirmary demolished
|
Five Chelsea Pensioners in their traditional red tunics launched the demolition
But the heavy work was completed by mechanical grabbers
The infirmary, where the most vulnerable war veterans are treated, needed updating
However there were some tears from staff as it was finally knocked down
The infirmary will be replaced by a 125-bed new building and the "Long Wards" accommodation is to be updated
