The Music of Black Origin (Mobo) awards are held each year. Singer Lemar, who performed at this year's ceremony, was the main success, taking home the best album and UK act prizes.

John Legend

US star John Legend, who performed at the ceremony at the Royal Albert Hall, took the best R&B act title.

Lauryn Hill

Former Fugees singer turned solo performer Lauryn Hill played live at the Mobo awards.

Rita Marley

Bob Marley's Mobo posthumous achievement award was collected by his widow Rita.

Damian Marley

Damian Marley - son of Bob Marley - was named best reggae act and played live.

Chuck D

Rapper Chuck D of Public Enemy collected the group's special award for outstanding contribution to black music.

Rapper Sway

Sway, an unsigned rapper from north London, beat heavyweights 50 Cent and The Game to the best hip hop act prize.

Radio DJ Tim Westwood

BBC Radio 1's rap show presenter Tim Westwood was named best UK radio DJ.

Ms Dynamite

Ms Dynamite, who won three awards in 2002, performed live at the Mobo ceremony.
