She became the oldest ever Royal in 2003 at the age of 101 years and 238 days.

She was rarely seen in public after 1995 and died with her immediate family close by.

The flag over Buckingham Palace flew at half-mast after the death was announced. The Queen said she was 'greatly saddened'.
