In pictures: Paris airport roof collapse

The roof of Terminal 2E at Paris Charles de Gaulle international airport collapsed, bringing wreckage down on cars below.

Before Sunday's incident, the terminal was hailed as the latest in airport design.

Cracks were heard ripping through the building just before its collapse.

The building, opened just 11 months ago, was reduced to twists of steel and cracked glass.

Teams with sniffer dogs were deployed as emergency services were put on red alert.

Four people died and three were injured as the building came crashing down.

Rescue workers picked carefully through the wreckage amid fears that victims were still trapped in the rubble.

Interior Minister Dominique de Villepin visited the site. The government has ordered an immediate investigation into its cause.
