In pictures: Turkey train crash

The passenger trains crashed into each other head-on near the village of Tavsancil, in north-west Turkey.

At least six people were killed and scores injured in the accident.

Rescue workers rushed to the scene, as injured passengers lay trapped in the wreckage.

Turkish state railways said one of the trains had apparently passed through a red light.

Parts of the trains were totally destroyed in the accident.

Some injured passengers were walking wounded and treated at the scene.

Rescue work continued hours after the crash - the third rail accident in Turkey in a month.
