US success for dance show
Strictly Come Dancing
Strictly Come Dancing paired celebrities with professional dancers
The US version of British TV show Strictly Come Dancing has been a hit with viewers, with its first episode watched by more than 13 million people.

Renamed Dancing with the Stars for the ABC network, it features celebrities such as boxer Evander Holyfield and model Rachel Hunter.

ABC said it was Wednesday's most popular show, watched by 13.2 million.

In the UK, the winners of spin-off BBC One show Strictly Dance Fever will be revealed on Saturday.

Global hit

Three couples are still in with a chance of winning the £50,000 prize on the programme, hosted by Graham Norton.

Strictly Come Dancing and Strictly Dance Fever, themselves derived from long-running favourite Come Dancing, have given BBC One a ratings boost on Saturday evenings.

In the US, Dancing with the Stars beat its nearest rival in the 2100 timeslot - an Eagles concert on NBC - by 3.7 million, ABC said.

Versions of Strictly Come Dancing have also been sold to countries including Australia, Italy, Belgium, Denmark, New Zealand and Poland.
