Law pulls out of Gervais comedy
Jude Law
Jude Law is currently filming in New Orleans
Actor Jude Law has pulled out of a guest appearance in the new Ricky Gervais comedy Extras.

Law, who was last seen on screen in the film Closer, would have played himself in the show, which will star Gervais as a struggling actor.

However, a BBC spokeswoman told the BBC News website that Law had been forced to pull out of the show due to current filming commitments in New Orleans.

"It's a shame because Ricky and Jude wanted to work together," she said.

Remake

"However, the script for that episode has been put on hold for now so they may still make it at some point in the future."

Law is currently working on a remake of the classic 1949 drama All The King's Men, which also stars Sean Penn and Kate Winslet.

His other recent films include Alfie and Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow.

Extras, written by Gervais and Office co-writer Stephen Merchant, will feature cameo roles from a host of big name stars including Winslet, Samuel L Jackson, Vinnie Jones and former EastEnders star Ross Kemp.

A transmission date for the show has yet to be confirmed although it will form part of the spring and summer schedule on BBC Two, details of which were announced last week.
