Graham Norton hosts a Hollywood special on 28 December
Comedian Graham Norton is to trade his nightly show on Channel 4 for a weekly hour-long programme filmed in New York.

According to its host, NY Graham Norton will be "hot, tasty and packed with stuff - like a sort of Big Apple Pie".

The Irish-born comic's current show, V Graham Norton, will end on 19 December after a five-night run in Hollywood.

In September Norton signed a two-year deal with the US Comedy Central cable channel to move his popular Channel 4 chat show across the Atlantic.

According to Channel 4, the new show will be "a diverse mix of fun, games, guests, sketches, satellite links, music, web cams, phone calls and filth".

Each week the show will offer one British viewer the chance to be flown to New York to appear in the following week's show.

Beginning in January, the show will be preceded on 28 December by a Christmas special - Snow Graham Norton: The Hollywood and the Ivy - filmed in Los Angeles.

"Graham has done V Graham Norton for 18 months, so he's trying out a new format," said a Channel 4 spokeswoman.

Channel 4 have yet to announce what will replace Norton's show on the first four nights of the week.
