Striking actor returns to sitcom
Brad Garrett
Garrett missed the first episode of the new series
Brad Garrett, the striking star of hit US sitcom Everybody Love Raymond, has agreed to return to the show.

Garrett, who played Raymond's brother Robert on the CBS show, had walked out over a pay dispute.

He was written out of the first episode of the new series, but agreed to return after a profit-sharing promise by the show's stars.

Star Ray Romano agreed to split some of his share options with Barone and other cast upset with their pay.

"We've been told that Brad is returning to work (Wednesday), and we look forward to welcoming him back," CBS spokesman Chris Ender said on Tuesday.

Three other members of the cast - Patricia Heaton, Peter Boyle and Doris Roberts - were also reportedly unhappy with their pay.

Garrett, whose character is constantly jealous of brother Raymond, had been receiving a deal worth $4m (£2.56m) a year, or $166,000 (£106,400) an episode.

Garrett's pay rise was up to $250,000 for each episode, and a half-percentage point of the show's sales, which could be worth up to $5m (£3.20m).

The show is one of CBS' most profitable programmes, making more than $500m (£320m) from syndicated repeats in the last five years.
