Poverty hits Brother housemates
Ray Shah
Ray had to gamble money on a roulette wheel
The surviving Big Brother housemates have £2 to survive on over the next week after Ray Shah made a gamble with their food budget.

As the house leader, the Irishman had to undertake an individual task which involved having to bet the £51 food budget on one spin of a roulette wheel.

He chose to place all but £1 on red - and he spun black.

Ray chose to put a £20 chip on red, £10 chips on 21, 29 and 16, and a £1 chip on black - and then watched in horror as the ball landed on black number eight.

It means the housemates must survive on their most meagre food rations yet.

Ray, who is an IT systems administrator from London, had sole responsibility for deciding how to spend it.

He chose one pack of value toilet roll, one tin of sweetcorn, four tins of chopped tomatoes and two carrots.

Staples such as rice and potatoes are already provided by Big Brother.

The other housemates had to watch Ray's gamble in the reward room on a TV screen.
