Oscar-winning actress Angelina Jolie has collected an award for her work highlighting the plight of refugees.
The 28-year-old was close to tears as she was presented with the first Citizen of the World Award from the UN's Correspondents' Association.
A United Nations goodwill ambassador since 2001, she said she was "inspired and humbled" to work with refugees.
Jolie has visited a dozen war zones, and adopted her Cambodian son after a mission to his native country.

She first contacted the UN to see if she could help after spending 10 days in refugee camps in Afghanistan.
Ruud Lubbers, the UN high commissioner for refugees, said: "She has helped put the spotlight on the disenfranchised group - refugees - and also those who are not in the headlines and who are victims of long forgotten crises.
"She gives a voice to millions of uprooted people across the globe."
Jolie said the award held special meaning for her because it was named after Sergio Vieira de Mello, the UN envoy to Iraq who was killed in the bombing of the UN headquarters in Baghdad in August.
