Crowe will marry on his 39th birthday

Crowe is said to be concerned because of the reported attendance of Rick Perry, governor of the US state of Texas.

The actor is also attempting to limit press intrusion at Monday's ceremony, where he will marry long-term girlfriend Danielle Spencer.

Crowe's publicist Wendy Day said that news crews' attempts to cover the nuptials, which are due to take place on Monday, are "over the top".

Reporters and photographers have been trying to get a look at preparations for the wedding by hovering over the Oscar-winner's ranch in helicopters.

Preparations for the wedding are currently under way.

Crowe will marry Spencer on his 39th birthday in the family chapel on his ranch near the resort town, which stands halfway between Sydney and Brisbane.

Weekend of fun

Day said the wedding would include about 80 close friends and family members, but few Hollywood stars.

But Tom Cruise, a good friend of Crowe's, is rumoured to be attending.

Film-maker Ridley Scott, who directed the movie Gladiator for which Crowe won a best actor Oscar in 2001, is also due to be there.

Crowe has a weekend of fun planned ahead of the wedding, including cricket games and musical shows for his guests.
