Graham Norton
Norton starts the first of nine shows on Wednesday
Comedian and TV presenter Graham Norton will continue his attempt to crack the American market when he makes his New York stage debut on Wednesday.

He is performing nine one-man shows, Graham Norton: Red-Handed, at the Theatre at St Clements until Saturday 28 September.

Red-Handed is backed by BBC America, a cable and satellite channel run by the corporation's commercial arm BBC Worldwide, which is dedicated to showing "the best of British talent".

BBC America shows So Graham Norton each weeknight, and the show has picked up a cult following, as well as praise from critics.

Last month the Los Angeles Times dubbed it "outrageous and randy" while the Washington Post's Tom Shales said Norton was "one of the bubbliest imports from the UK since Tynant water".

Norton has already picked up two Baftas, an International Emmy and a host of other awards for the show, earlier this year So Graham Norton was adapted to run each nightly as V Graham Norton on Channel 4.

BBC America can be seen in about 30 million US homes, and as well as screening BBC shows like Absolutely Fabulous, EastEnders, Parkinson and Liquid News, it also airs Channel 4's Father Ted and ITV's Inspector Morse.

Red-Handed follows a series of BBC America-backed shows last year which showcased UK comedy talent on the New York stage, including Dave Gorman, Bill Bailey and the League of Gentlemen.
