31 Songs looks at the tracks that have affected the music-loving novelist, famous for his books High Fidelity and About a Boy.

The book includes essays on a wide range of artists, including The Beatles, Patti Smith, Bruce Springsteen, Teenage Fanclub and Aimee Mann.
