Wyclef Jean: Your views
Wyclef Jean
Wyclef Jean is a sometime member of the Fugees
Wyclef Jean, who first shot to fame in the early 90s with hip-hop band The Fugees, has released his third solo album, Masquerade.

The rapper maintains an anti-gangster message throughout but the album also has a lighter side, including a collaboration with Tom Jones with a new version of What's New Pussycat?

"For the most part this album plods and meanders, lacking the spark of earlier efforts and devoid of the mixture of laidback attitude shot through with darkness that made The Fugees' The Score worth a listen," wrote BBC News Online's Finlo Rohrer.

But what do you think?

Does it lack spark? Or does it confirm his place as an international music star?

Have your say

Masquerade lacks the cutting edge that we have grown acustomed to from Wyclef. Gone are the witty, orignal songs, substituted by music that was only written to give off a message. He can do better. Six out of 10!
Tom Jennings, Docklands

Moments of brilliance from a genuine original, and genuine innovator. Compared to all the mindless pop out there were no messages or heart-felt observations this is a breath of fresh air. Not as out there as Eclectic, but definitely damn good.
Steve Saul, London UK

It certainly lacks spark, self-indulgent rubbish!
Dookes, England

To say this album plods is ridiculous! Wyclef is one of the most gifted and eclectic performers, who puts on a great live show. This album gets a big thumbs up from me!
Charlotte Mann, Brit in the US

Not a bad album in comparison to the dross out there at the moment. However it does pale in comparison to his earlier work on The Score and the Carnival.
Tayo, UK
