Darkness singer's festive message
The Darkness
The Darkness have enjoyed a hugely successful year
Justin Hawkins, singer with rock band The Darkness, is to deliver an alternative TV Christmas message.

His broadcast will air on MTV at 1500 GMT on Christmas Day - the same time as The Queen's traditional address.

Hawkins will joke that The Darkness upstaged Robbie Williams as support act at his sell-out summer Knebworth shows.

The band are being tipped to take the Christmas number one slot with their single Christmas Time (Don't Let the Bells End).
