Homelands announces line-up
Basement Jaxx
Basement Jaxx are one of the UK's biggest draws
Basement Jaxx, Zero 7, Roots Manuva, Roni Size, Alison Limerick and Sasha are all lined up for this year's Homelands festival, which starts on 1 June.

The event, which traditionally heralds the start of the UK's music festival season, will also feature many of the best-known DJs from clubland, including Pete Tong, Carl Cox, Judge Jules and Tim Westwood.

It is great to be back at Homelands

A number of the UK's club promoters are collaborating to operate different stages at the event, which takes place at the Bowl near Winchester in Hampshire.

The festival is to be extended by a day to take advantage of the Golden Jubilee holiday on Monday 3 June, to mark the 50th year of Queen Elizabeth II's reign.

BBC Radio 1's Essential Mix will again team up to run the event's main DJ stage.

Closing the music on Radio 1's massive outdoor stage will be a three hour set from Carl Cox.

After sundown BBC Radio 1 moves to what has been described as "an aircraft hanger of a tent for some 10,000 people".

"It is great to be back at Homelands - as an event it kick starts the summer of dance music on Radio 1," said the station's Matt Priest.

"Last year the Outdoor stage was superb, the sunshine kept some 15,000 people out of the tents and dancing in the open air."

Other clubs bringing their own sounds and stages to the event will include Burnley-based Retro and Ibiza's Space.
