Hollywood star Will Smith has set a new record by attending three premieres in one day to promote his new film Hitch.

Smith attended premieres of the comedy in three UK cities - Manchester, Birmingham and London - on Tuesday.

He travelled across the country in a private jet to earn himself a place in the Guinness Book of World Records.

"I've had a beautiful day," he said. "The reaction from people has been great, and I'm so grateful they came out to see me in the snow."

Fans waited

The Men in Black star entered the Guinness Book of Records for making the most public appearances in the space of 12 hours.

Hundreds of fans greeted him at Manchester's Printworks before he travelled to Birmingham UGC Cinema then London's Leicester Square.

Smith said: "I must have been to London about 50 times, and I realise the UK is a lot bigger than London."

The actor plays a New York "date doctor" with love worries of his own in Hitch, which has proved a box office hit in the US.

The film will be released in cinemas across the UK next week.
