Resident Evil: Apocalypse is the second film to be based upon the popular video game series.
Jovovich's character Alice must fight against zombies and evil businessmen in a bid to escape from the doomed Raccoon City.
Its success follows the two films based upon the Tomb Raider video game series, which starred Angelina Jolie as Lara Croft.
