Hit Broadway musical The Producers is to be made into a film featuring its current stage stars Matthew Broderick and Nathan Lane.
The Hollywood adaptation of the Mel Brooks creation will start filming next year - 37 years after Gene Wilder starred in the original movie.
Broderick and Lane are currently starring in a second Broadway run of the critically-acclaimed show.
The original production scooped a record 12 Tony Awards in 2001.
Filming is due to start in early 2005, with a release pencilled in by Universal Pictures for the end of the year.
Broderick and Lane returned to The Producers on 30 December for a further 14-week stint.
Ticket sales for their first week back are reported to have pulled in a record $1.6m (£880,000), including tickets for a New Year's Eve show costing $600 (£330).
A London run of The Producers, starring Richard Dreyfuss and Lee Evans, will open at the Theatre Royal Drury Lane in November.
