Disney's Pirates of the Caribbean: Curse of the Black Pearl has taken more than $100m (£64.1m) outside the US.
It has become the 14th Hollywood film of the year to take more than $100m overseas, following such hits as The Matrix: Reloaded and Terminator 3.
The film, which stars Johnny Depp as a swashbuckling pirate and Lord of the Rings actor Orlando Bloom as a heroic sailor, is still in the US film charts' top 10 after eight weeks on release.
The film's success has included Spanish ticket sales of $34.4m (£22.05m) in four weeks, Spanish sales of $11m (£7.05m) in two weeks, Mexican receipts of $9.2m ($5.89) in four weeks, and $3.2m (£2.05m) in Holland.
The film has also made more than £14.1m in the UK since it was released three weeks ago.
The international success comes on top of North American box office takings of more than $261m (£166.2m) in the US.
The movie made $70.4m ($42.2m) in its first week, one of the strongest openings of the year.
Pirates has also proven to be the third-biggest film opening in the Russian film market.
It made $2.5m (£1.60m) in its opening weekend there.
