Thunderbirds unveils Penelope's car

Lady Penelope is famed for her pink car
Thunderbirds fans have been given a first glimpse of the live-action movie version of the cult TV animation, with the unveiling of Lady Penelope's pink car.

The pink six-wheeled FAB 1 is heavily inspired by the original limousine, in which secret agent Lady Penelope was tirelessly chauffeured by her butler Parker.

But the life-size version of the car has also been redesigned to fit in with the supposed future style of 2024 - the year in which the film is set.

Lady Penelope will be played by Sophia Myles, while Ron Cook will take the role of Parker.

The film version of Gerry Anderson's 1960s series is due for release in 2004.

The other cast members include Bill Paxton as Jeff Tracy and ER star Anthony Edwards as Brains.

The Tracy sons are played by Brady Corbett as Alan, Phillip Winchester as Scott, Lex Shrapnel as John and Dominic Colenso as Virgil.

The TV show, which was first broadcast in 1964, still has a huge following despite the fact that only 32 episodes were made.

A live-action feature based on the series has been in development for some time.
