Nude portrait of Python unveiled
Portrait of comedian Terry Jones

A nude painting of Monty Python star Terry Jones is one of several works to be unveiled in the Royal Society of Portrait Painters annual exhibition.

Heidi Harrington's portrayal of the comedian will be shown with paintings of Olympic rower Matthew Pinsent and astronomer Sir Patrick Moore.

Portraits of chef Albert Roux and former Conservative Cabinet minister David Mellor will also be displayed.

The exhibition will run from 29 April to 16 May at London's Mall Galleries.

A new prize for young portrait painters, the de Laszlo Foundation Award worth £3,000, will be among the awards presented as the exhibition opens.

Founded in 1891, the society is devoted exclusively to the art and development of portrait painting.
