Potter back on top
JK Rowling has three books in the top four
JK Rowling has three books in the top four
Harry Potter has reclaimed the number one spot in the UK book charts.

After 33 weeks on release, the fourth adventure in the wizard series, The Goblet of Fire, has moved up from third to displace John Grisham's Painted House from top spot on the combined paperback and hardback Whitaker BookTrack charts.

His drama is down to number two, just ahead of two more Harry Potter books, The Prisoner of Azkaban and The Chamber of Secrets.

Author JK Rowling has now sold an estimated 100 million copies of the wizard's adventures worldwide.

It comes just a day after the big screen adaptation of her first Potter book, The Philosopher's Stone, became the second biggest grossing movie of all time.

The film, starring Daniel Radcliffe as the boy wizard, has taken more than £650m to date, moving it ahead of Star Wars Episode One: The Phantom Menace.

However it has a long way to go to beat Titanic's total of more than £1.3bn.

Consolation

Grisham's Painted House had been top of the paperback charts for two weeks.

However he does have some consolation in that his new legal thriller The Summons remains on top of the hardback charts.

It is Grisham's first legal thriller in two years and the setting is Ford County, Mississippi, the same location as his first hit novel A Time to Kill, which was later made into a movie starring Samuel L Jackson.

The Summons is the fifth best-seller on the combined list.

Joanne Harris' Five Quarters of the Orange moves up one place to seven with Lyn Andrews down two to seven with House on Lonely Street.

Delia Smith's: How to Cook, Book Three moves up to eight, Ian Rankin's Blood Hunt: A Jack Harvey Novel is down to nine, with JRR Tolkien's The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring rounding off the top 10.
