Hell's Kitchen gets new head chef
Marco Pierre White
Marco Pierre White has fallen out with former protege Gordon Ramsay
Celebrity chef Marco Pierre White is to present the next series of ITV reality cookery show Hell's Kitchen.

He will take over from previous presenters Gary Rhodes and Jean Christophe Novelli. Gordon Ramsay fronted the first series.

He said he would do the show differently. "I'm not here to follow in someone else's footsteps," he said.

The chef must train 10 celebrities to cook during the series, which is due to be broadcast later this year.

"My approach on Hell's Kitchen will be about inspiring people and helping them, not belittling them and putting them down," he added.

Kitchen feuds

White once worked with Gordon Ramsay - but the pair are no longer on speaking terms.

"If someone doesn't enrich my life, I don't want them to be part of my life. He has nothing to contribute to it," he said.

White also criticised another celebrity chef, Jamie Oliver.

Referring to his campaign to improve school dinners, he said: "I think when you walk down Downing Street to number 10 with a camera crew at the gates, it's a bit cynical."
