Post office closed by supermarket
Tesco store
The firm says it is working to transfer the business
Tesco has caused anger with its plans to close down a village post office in Swindon.

The supermarket giant recently bought the One Stop store in the Shaw Village Centre, and plans to turn it into a Tesco Express.

It says the post office facilities need to go to make space for more groceries.

Some residents have expressed anger at the plan, and say they will now have to travel more than a mile to claim their pensions and benefits.

Tesco says it is working closely with the Post Office, and giving them double the required period of notice of closure, to help transfer business to other post offices in west Swindon.
