New park for young skateboarders
Skateboarders
The skate park should be ready by December
A sod-cutting ceremony is taking place to mark the start of work on a £300,000 skate park in County Durham.

The development, on land alongside the leisure centre in Coxhoe village, is the result of a three-year campaign to find skateboarders somewhere to play.

Funding has come from a variety of sources, although the bulk, £218,000, comes from the Sport England fund.

The park will also include BMX ramps for mountain bikers, floodlighting and security cameras.

The site will be managed by Durham City Council, and it is hoped that work will be completed by December.
