Police close town's crack house
Police on Teesside have closed down the first crack house found in Hartlepool.

Drug squad officers moved into the property on Thursday afternoon, after information received from the public.

Detectives have placed brightly-coloured posters on the house in Lancelot Street, which will remain there for three months.

A spokesman for Cleveland Police said the occupiers of the house, a 33-year-old man and a woman, 28, were not in the house at the time.

The action was part of Operation Crackdown and follows new powers included in the Anti-Social Behaviour Act.

The police spokesman said investigations were continuing and promised "robust action" against the town's drugs users.
