A 14-year-old boy was treated in hospital after being shot with an air rifle on Teesside, police said.
The teenager, who has not been named, was shot in the leg as he walked in a public park in Marske on 27 May.
Surgeons at the James Cook Hospital in Middlesbrough, removed a .22 pellet which was lodged in his left thigh.
Police are trying to trace two youths who were seen in the area on a motocross-style motorcycle at the time of the attack at 1930 BST.
A spokeswoman for Cleveland Police said the boy needed six stitches to his leg wound.
She added: "Two youths were seen in the area at the time, riding a light-coloured motorcycle.
"It is not known if they had anything to do with the incident.
"But we would urge anyone who saw these youths to contact us."
