Man dies in water-filled quarry
A 22-year-old man has died after he jumped into a water-filled quarry while out with friends.

Andrew Cousins, of Wilson Street, Crook, County Durham, died after jumping into deep water at Greenfields Quarry, near the village of Stanhope.

Police were alerted after Mr Cousins' friends watched him jump into the water but fail to resurface early on Saturday afternoon.

A specialist diving team was called in and recovered Mr Cousin's body.

A Durham Police spokesman said: "We are still investigating this sudden death by speaking to Andrew's friends who were present when he apparently jumped into the water from the quarry edge.

"But at the moment there are no suspicious circumstances."
