Support shown for new art gallery
Artist's impression of names in glass
People will be able to see their names in glass from September
An art gallery due to open in September has closed its schemes for people to sponsor silver and gold tiles or have their name inscribed in glass.

The Lightbox, due to open in Woking, Surrey, on 15 September, has raised tens of thousands of pounds through the two fundraising initiatives.

More than 630 names will now appear in glass balustrades running around the £7m gallery and museum's interior.

More than 50 sponsorship pledges were also received for the building's tiles.

Lightbox director Marilyn Scott said: "It is a wonderful response. The idea seems to have captured people's imagination.

"It is a real sign of the incredible support for the provision of art and history here."

Typefaces are now being designed for the names in glass.

The cost of taking part was £50 for a family name, £50 for an adult's name and £20 for a child's name.
