The wooden shed is the latest in a series of pieces of desirable property to go on sale in the coastal town, where beach huts can fetch up to £45,000.

A wooden landing stage on the Walberswick side of the River Blyth is on sale for £12,000, and a jetty on the Southwold side recently fetched £25,000.

Graham Hay-Davison of the Harbour Users Association said: "There is no need to engage the services of an estate agent because there's so much demand for the stages.

"We do at the moment have a waiting list of about 15 boats which are looking for permanent mooring on the river."

Southwold has been growing ever more popular with boating fans and with those seeking a holiday home.

But the spiralling prices have prompted fears that working fishermen could be forced out - changing the old-fashioned charm of the town.

Fisherman Nick Curtis said: "It was a working harbour and it's gradually going backwards.

"We currently get on very well with the yachtsmen, but once you start to push the fishermen out totally it will just become a marina."
