Sex shop plans opposed
Plans to open a sex shop in Crewe are being met with opposition from locals.

About 40 people have written to the borough council to express their dismay at the proposals for the former jewellers' shop in Market Street in the town.

Most of the complaints have centred around whether it would be appropriate to have a sex shop on a main route into a shopping centre.

But the application can only be turned down if there are already too many sex shops in the area, or if the premises or the person making the application is unsuitable.

The council says there is no reason to reject the application on those grounds.

Locals have also said that the store would be too close to the Christadelphian Church and have pointed out that there is already a sex shop on Edleston Road.

The council will make a decision next Tuesday.
